The Glasshouse is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art cultural and technical centre offering inspiring versatile venues for performances, shows and concerts plus it is also home to The Glasshouse Regional Gallery. With it’s innovative architecture, naturally lit atrium style foyers and unique acoustically superior theatre it really is a stunning building. Although it has been a divisive building in the past for some in the local community it really has proved to be a major asset for the Port Macquarie area. If you haven’t been to a concert or exhibition there make sure you do as it really is a beautiful building. I’ve had the opportunity to have several photoshoots there recently. One was for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra who recently had a concert there in front of 450 primary school children. The acoustics in the theatre are truly world class and the sound was fabulous! They even had the kids spellbound. You can see more of the images on the Sydney Symphony Orchestra website here>>
Another was for two new exhibitions in the Regional Gallery. I love this space, particularly the lower gallery which, with it’s dramatic lighting, towering ceilings, concrete and timber features, really is stunning. The latest exhibitions are “Group Exchange” from the Tamworth Textile Triennial which is a textile exhibition that continues to gain regional and national significance and is now attracting international interest.
The other exhibition is “Art Express” which is an annual exhibition of exemplary artworks created by New South Wales visual arts students for the Higher School Certificate examination. You will be blown away by the talent that some of these young students have and there is some great photography exhibited too.
