An architectural photographers dream – The IONA

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the new IONA Performing Arts Centre at St Columba Anglican School for the architects DRA Architects and the builders Commercial Project Group.
Spread across two levels, the new building brings together the music, drama and dance education programs for Kindergarten through to Year 12. The IONA features a 304 seat black box theatre with stage, adjoining dance studio, instrument, vocal and music rehearsal rooms, classrooms and associated staff spaces.
Through embracing the sites visibility and proximity to the School’s main entry, the inclusion of a prominent, boldly coloured entry canopy and glazed facade acts to engage the school community and visitors. The use of colour throughout the building including its feature walls, textures and even the doors makes the Iona visually appealing from so many angles.
The feedback from the architects about the photos was pretty good too – “Jeremy, they look amazing!”
All the images you see here were shot with the Nikon D850 and either the 14-24mm f2.8 or 24-70mm f2.8
